Our Game against the devs of Guns of Icarus Online
Played against/with the developers of Guns of Icarus Online today. It was an intense battle that our side came out on top of. We would have totally lost if it wasn’t for the rest of our team. Their MUSE clan Spire ship was sniping at us from miles away, so we were almost dead by the time we could even get close. It was, all in all, a good time. They were probably all talking strategy, and we were only focused on ramming them at full speed and then firing all of our guns!
As I sit and wonder how in the world to get a job now that I live in Portland, I wonder why does a career mean a shitty 9-5 job in a place you hate? Many people now feel exactly the same way as I do. I have a 4-year college degree, 5 years of part time job work, yet I still am losing out in jobs that you don’t even need a degree for. Back in Iowa, where I am from, it isn’t uncommon to walk into a place and ask for an application and that turns into an interview because its a small town feel and things are very personal. Here people would rather get your resume and never see your face until they call you for an interview. Not only that but even for a pizza delivery job they want your resume, like I need a professional resume to sit in my car and drive a pizza to someone. What in the world is wrong with this town if you need a resume to be Phillip Fry from Futurama?
Portland is a great place, and being so it has attracted many college grads and younger people. It is a town full of fairly educated people competing for any job that is available whether you need a degree or not. I would like to just stream my games and get paid for that. I love that, I love playing games and having people watch and ask me questions about it.
My dream would be to open a gaming bar/internet cafe. People could come in get some coffee or alcohol and chill at one of many awesome gaming pcs, or get a couch with a huge TV and play any of the consoles that exist whenever it would get started. Also, the TV’s in the bar area wouldn’t be playing just sports or regular shows, they would be games being streamed, maybe from Twitch, or from the people playing in the other side of the place. It could be a place to hold tourneys and competitions and people could spectate by the bar and grab a drink. A man can dream, a man can dream.
Playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent with TorpedoTed91. Such good times.
No time to stream games today. I have been away in Pella with my girlyfriend. Though chances to game are never too far. She went to wrok and I sat down to play some Pokemon Black 2. Though it isn’t the mort exciting moment as I slrecently restarted and am just spending tome getting all of my dudes up to lvl 20. After my short bout of Pokemon Ill be heading to the movie Lincoln. As a lover of history I am pumped and hope it is true……and exciting. All in all I cannot complain about my Pokemans and one pf our nations best presidents. More streaming to come tomorrow!
Played some Minecraft with TorpedoTed91. He was showing off some of the stuff in his servers. Not everything was built by him, but all impressive. Most of the work was done in Survival Mode, so the minerals were all gathered “legitly” Good times, good times.
Holy shit, I love them so much. In fact they inspire so much brilliance all around them. With I was as interesting as they are. I wonder what would happen if someone with no skills in graphic design, programming, or animation, actually sent in their resume to them. They say they take it, but it would be interesting to hear their response.
My life wouldn’t be the same without Psychonauts in it me thinks. Thank you Double Fine
